Explanation and introduction of the BACKHAND STROKE for beginners (final version)

EXPLANATORY exercises for backhand (with ball and racquet). Carrying, rolling the ball with the racquet. Roll the ball on the lines (to partner) using the racquet. Bounce ball and hit the ball up, controlled strokes using backhand, etc.

INTRODUCTION

DEMONSTRATION of the backhand by T. The P copy. One partner throws the ball a short distance up underarm, the P plays it gently back to the partner (core movement with MAIN ACTION). T comments on technique or plays too, the P change positions.

The players attempt to hit a soft ball (red ball or small court ball) a short distance to and fro using the backhand.

Each person practices on his own, then play with partner.

Low intensity, 15-20 mins in rest condition, no exhaustion!

The partner throws the ball (throw the ball away from the body of the forehand player), the P hits the ball over the net into target field (service court).

With a gentle swing.

After playing from the hitting position the P move a few steps to the ball, move from the ready position to the hitting position.

T should only intervene if the GRIP is extremely wrong. It is not possible to perform the exercise and the main action optimally if the grip is extremely wrong.

Particularly when teaching children numerous special explanatory exercises for the backhand should be included. The trainer should demonstrate the backhand with one hand and both hands. The pupils should then see whether they would rather play with one hand or both hands.

If there are more than 4 players 2 small courts should be set up on both halves of the tennis court.
